U.S. envoy stresses importance of consultations with Jordan
AMMONNEWS - United States Ambassador To Jordan, Alice G. Wells, on Tuesday, stressed the importance of consultations the U.S. holds with His Majesty King Abdullah and top Jordanian officials in offering the U.S. broader understanding of the region.
Wells renewed her country's support to Jordan which she said a model for tolerant Islam, highlighting the Kingdom's efforts to counter extremist ideology. During a meeting with a number of journalists, the ambassador spoke a recent US ambassadors meeting in Washington in which Jordan figured high because of its important role in regional security and stability.
Speaking about the war against the terrorist Daesh group, she said Jordanian and U.S. officials hold continuous meetings to set priorities and keep the Jordanian side advised on military aid.
She also shed light on a Syrian refugees donors conference held in Kuwait in which the U.S. pledged $507 million to deal with the refugees crisis.
