Koenders praises Jordan's role towards Syrian refugees
AMMONNEWS - Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders praised Jordan's humanitarian role in hosting Syrian refugees.
During the opening of a photo exhibition on the Zaatari Syrian refugee camp in the United Nations headquarters on Tuesday evening, Koenders talked about the generosity of Jordanian leadership and people in receiving the refugees.
The exhibition, which is organized by the missions of Jordan and Netherlands to the UN in cooperation with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), includes photos took by a number of photographers from the United States and Britain that embody everyday life at Zaatari camp, the second largest refugee camp in the world.
Permanent Representative of Jordan at the UN Dina Kawar, thanked the Dutch Foreign Minister and his government for highlighting the Syrian refugee crisis, noting that Jordan will continue cooperation with the United Nations' humanitarian agencies to provide necessary aid for Syrian refugees.
She also stressed the importance of supporting the host countries to enable them to perform their humanitarian duty.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by a number of UN senior officials, ambassadors, diplomats of permanent missions in addition to a group of journalists.
