China's envoy: Jordan oasis of stability thanks to King's wisdom
AMMONNEWS - The wisdom of His Majesty King Abdullah II in dealing with the issues in the Middle East, especially with regard to the Arab Spring, has made Jordan an oasis of security and stability, China's Ambassador to Jordan Gao Yusheng said.
During a ceremony held by the Chinese Embassy in Amman on Tuesday, on the occasion of the National Day of China, the ambassador commended the strong cooperation relations between the two countries in various fields, primarily in the parliamentary, economic, educational, cultural and military domains.
He pointed out that the two countries are preparing to establish more joint ventures, while noting the successful visit of His Majesty the King to China last year.
The ambassador noted that Jordan will be the guest of honor at the China-Arab States Expo, which will be held in the Ningxia region, northwest of China, next September, stressing that the Kingdom’s participation in the Expo will contribute to improving economic cooperation between the two countries.
He added that his country has entered a new phase of political and economic reform since the election of the new leadership last year, where an extensive campaign is underway to combat corruption. He also pointed that China has made great strides, especially in the last 35 years, after applying a policy of reform and openness. China's GDP, the envoy said, increased from $211 billion in 1978 to $9,100 billion in 2013, making it the second-largest economy in the world.
