QAIA Records Unprecedented 700,000 PAX during August 2014
AMMONNEWS - the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) - announced that it has welcomed over 700,000 passengers during August 2014. This milestone, which is a first in QAIA history, is a continuation of the steady growth in passenger traffic (PAX) and aircraft movements (ACM) for the eighth consecutive month this year.
During August 2014, PAX increased by 13.2% to reach 785,685 PAX while ACM rose by 12% to come in at 7,242 ACM, as opposed to the same month last year. Since the beginning of 2014 and up until August, year-to-date (YTD) PAX and ACM statistics surged by 12.1% and 9.1% respectively compared to August 2013, registering at 4,939,973 PAX and 49,626 ACM.
“This unprecedented achievement recorded during August was mainly led by an increase in passenger traffic to and from Turkey, Egypt and the GCC region. This is the first time in QAIA history that we exceed such a benchmark, and we eagerly look forward to reaching even greater heights in the future,” stated AIG CEO Kjeld Binger.
