U.S.Embassy Handheld Chemical Detection Instruments to Jordan
AMMONNEWS - The American Embassy presented 12 handheld chemical detection instruments valued at over $660,000 to the Chemical Support Unit and the Royal Navy Forces of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) and the Public Security Department (PSD). These instruments will enable Jordanian security personnel to rapidly and accurately identify unknown solid and liquid chemicals directly in the field.
Representatives of JAF and PSD expressed their appreciation for the donation, and emphasized that this significant contribution to their capabilities demonstrates the strong bilateral relationship and cooperation between Jordan and the United States.
The donation was made possible under the Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) program, which is led and funded by the U.S. Department of State. EXBS is a worldwide program that aims to support partner countries by providing expertise, equipment, training, and software to improve their export control systems, to prevent illegal shipments and smuggling, and to counter weapons proliferation threats.
