King discusses ties, region with US Congressional delegation
AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II met on Wednesday the Chairman of the U.S House of Representatives' Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Darrell Issa, and the accompanying delegation currently visiting Jordan as part of a regional tour.
The meeting, held at the Al Husseiniya Palace, focused on the latest developments in the Middle East, mainly regional and international efforts aimed at ending the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
In this context, His Majesty pointed to the importance of the role of the United States in creating a proper climate to renew the peace process to arrive at a just and permanent solution to the Palestinian issue in line with the two-state solution.
The King also spoke about the repercussions of the crisis in Syria on neighboring countries, in addition to the situation in Iraq.
His Majesty reiterated Jordan's stance that calls for a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis and supporting efforts that aim at enhancing the unity of Iraq and its people.
Discussions during the meeting also dealt with Jordanian-US ties as well as ways to further boost these in various fields.
The King voiced appreciation for the support provided by the US to Jordan to enable it to implement developmental programs in various sectors.
The meeting was attended by the Royal Court chief, the director of the King's Office and the Jordanian ambassador in Washington.
