King, British prime minister discuss Mideast issues
AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II and British Prime Minister David Cameron, discussed, on Monday, a number of Middle East issues, especially the recent developments in Gaza, and efforts to reach a full end to the Israeli aggression on coastal territory and secure broader access to humanitarian and medical aid to the besieged enclave.
During the telephone conversation, His Majesty emphasized the importance of intensifying British and European as well as international efforts to set the ground for the resumption of peace negotiations that address all final status issues, according to the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions.
The King warned of the consequences of provocative Israeli actions in the holy city of Jerusalem against Muslim and Christian sanctities and said they threaten efforts to bring about a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East .
The discussion also dealt with the repercussions of the Syrian crisis on neighboring countries and the region as a whole. The King renewed Jordan's support and call for a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis.
