AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs on Tuesday discussed with Middle East Quartet envoy Tony Blair, the dangerous escalation in the Gaza Strip and efforts to achieve a ceasefire between the Palestinians and Israel.
Judeh and Blair stressed the importance of reaching an agreement that ends the ongoing bloodshed and violence as well as the need to implement the Egyptian Initiative.
Judeh reiterated Jordan's stance which rejects the continued Israeli aggression on Gaza and the targeting of civilians, pointing to the efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah II to put an end to the Israeli offensive and the killing of civilians.
The minister said the only way to prevent a repetition of the Israeli offensive is a political solution that comes through negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinians state as per the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Blair voiced appreciation for the efforts led by His Majesty to achieve a ceasefire and end the Israeli assault.
