Jordan border guards thwart infiltration attempts from Syria
AMMONNEWS - The Border guards shot at and arrested six men when they tried to infiltrate the frontier from the Syrian side over the past two days in the latest attempt to breach the Kingdom’s borders, a source at the Jordan armed forces General Command Headquarters said.
The source added that the border guards, acting in line with the rules of engagement 'in such cases', opened fire after the infiltrators ignored warnings to stop. It noted that five of the six men were injured and evacuated to a nearby clinic for treatment before being handed over to specialized authorities.
Meanwhile, the border guards received over the past 48 hours, 374 Syrian refugees who entered the Kingdom through illegal crossing points along the Jordanian-Syrian border. The injured were administered emergency aid before they were transferred.
