AMMONNEWS - Finance Minister Umayyah Toukan said Jordan had issued U.S-guaranteed Eurobonds in New York with a total value of $1 billion and an interest rate of 1.945 per cent.
The Ministry of Finance had issued the Eurobonds in the presence of Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan Adel Sharkas, representative of the USAID Paul Burning, Khaled Darawish as a representative of JP Morgan Bank, and Mayank Malik as a representative of Citi Bank.
Toukan noted that 34 international investors had taken part in the initial public offering.
The Eurobonds issued with US guarantees reflect the confidence of the international community in Jordan's economy and its ability to pay its debts despite the political situation in the region.
Toukan thanked the US government represented by the US Ambassador to Jordan Stuart Jones for its continued support of Jordan.
