AMMONNEWS -President of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, on Wednesday, said the bank is mulling over providing Jordan with a one-billion-dollar loan to Jordan; $800 million to support infrastructure projects and $200 million to the state treasury, but negotiations over the loan haven't been started yet.
Kim told a joint news conference with Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Saif, that Jordan bears massive burdens as a result of the Syrian, stressing the bank's commitment to standing by Jordan in the current circumstances.
He said that he spoke His Majesty King Abdullah II about the need to explore major investment projects so that the International Finance Corporation can invest in these projects.
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Saif, said the visit discussed regional challenges and was an opportunity to reaffirm the bank's support and commitment to Jordan in the current circumstances, and discussed ways to increase strategic cooperation between Jordan and the World Bank.
