King, British minister discuss ties, regional developments
AMMONNEWS - King Abdullah II met on Thursday with British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa at Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Hugh Robertson, to discuss ways to forge closer ties between the two countries, as well as the latest regional and international developments.
The meeting also focused on the US-brokered Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, the crisis in Syria and the burden being shouldered by Jordan as a result of hosting Syrian refugees and providing humanitarian services to them.
In this context, the King urged the international community to increase support to Jordan to enable it to continue its humanitarian services to the refugees and support local communities hosting these refugees.
The British minister praised Jordan's efforts to assist the Syrian refugees and voiced his country's readiness to continue its support to Jordan in this regard.
He also hailed His Majesty's role and continued efforts to achieve security and stability in the region and the world.
The meeting was attended by the Royal Court chief, the director of the King's office and the British ambassador to Jordan.
