King takes part in Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague
AMMONNEWS - King Abdullah II, on Monday, said that security and nuclear safety should be at the top of global priorities because of its importance for the present and the future of humanity.
The King stressed, in a speech at the 2014 Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague, that the world must raise awareness on the importance of nuclear security and safety, which require strong security precautions and transparency on nuclear issues .
'We in Jordan have made nuclear security and safety and cooperation in this area one of our priorities,' the King said, adding that the Kingdom will soon endorse the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism.
The King urged the participants at the summit to issue a joint statement and strongly follow up on its implementation, stressing the need for the contribution of all countries of the world in promoting nuclear security and safety through exchanging data, expertise, training, and various techniques.
It is noteworthy that His Majesty the King was chosen by all countries participating in the summit to speak on their behalf at a banquet held by the king of the Netherlands in recognition of his efforts in promoting regional and global security, stability and peace.
