AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour , stood at the head of a ministerial delegation , to the Iraqi capital of Baghdad at the end of this week , to discuss economic , political and security topics , most notably the Iraqi pipeline - Jordanian .
A ministerial source , said the visit was ' important and comprehensive ' , due to the significance of the concepts to be discussed in addition to an additional number of topics to be considered on the agenda.
The government delegation files range from political, security, economic, and energy. Most notable is the relationship between the two countries; this includes the exportation of fruits and vegetables from Jordan to Iraqi market as well as a joint oil pipeline and current security issues.
The importance of the “Iraqi-Jordanian” pipeline project is that it provides Iraq with a new secure port. It also will allow the exportation of oil to be much easier and more effective than traditional methods.
Jordan will also benefit from the implementation of the project by obtaining preferential prices for quantities of Iraqi oil supplied to the Kingdom.
It is scheduled to extend the pipeline from Kirkuk to pump a million barrels per day , bringing them 850,000 barrels to the port of Aqaba , and 150 million barrels to the Jordan Petroleum Refinery, in addition to another tube for the transfer of 100 million cubic meters of gas per day , in which Jordan will use for the production of electricity .
