4 arrested, Rioting, teargas, clashes with gendarmerie in east Amman
AMMONNEWS - Mohammad Abu Hamead- Riots erupted in night protest organized by youth pro-reform movement in Hay al-Tafaileh neighborhood in Amman, as police fired heavy tear gas to disperse the crowds and arrested four men.
Rioters set tiers on fire, broke glass, launched fireworks at the police, threw explosive bottles, and attacked police cars expressing their anger at the arrest of 10 of pro-reformers in the past few weeks, according to Ammon News reporter.
Several of the detained activists were being tried by the State Security Court, Jordan's special military tribunal, on anti-regime charges.
Tribal leaders, Lawmakers and other public figures interfered to contain the situation, they asked both sides Police and protesters to prevent any escalation of violence in the area on the Eid Al Adha night.
