AMMONNEWS - A former member of Parliament was killed on Sunday night after sustaining gunshot wounds during clashes that erupted in the northern town of al-Barha in Irbid governorate.
Security sources said that former MP Abdul Nasser Bani Hani, and four others were rushed to the hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds during a fight that witnessed the use of firearms.
Bani Hani was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said, from bullets reportedly fired from a Pump Action firearm.
Ammon News learned that police imposed a curfew in the town of al-Barha, and gendarmerie forces cordoned off the Princess Basma state-run hospital as relatives of Bani Hani crowded.
Security and administrative officials met late on Sunday at the Irbid Governorate headquarters to coordinate efforts to deal with the incident.
Police did not disclose the cause of the clashes.
