Jordan stresses support to Palestinians in their struggle to regain their rights
CAIRO (Petra) – Jordan stressed its continued support to the Palestinian National Authority and people in their just and legitimate struggle to regain their rights, establish their independent state on the Palestinian national soil and address all final status issues including Jerusalem, refugees, settlements, borders and water.
Director of Palestinian Affairs Department Mahmoud Aqrabawi said His Majesty King Abdullah II consistently affirms during his meetings with officials from the United States, the EU and the UN, Jordan's keenness to continue coordination with all parties to launch final status negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis and work towards reaching a peaceful solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
He said in remarks at the Conference on Supervisors of Palestinian Refugees Affairs in Arab Host Countries, which concluded in Cairo today, that the Kingdom continued to warn against the dangers posed to the peace process as a result of undesirable Israeli practices and unilateral actions in Jerusalem.
Jordan, he added, follows with concern the financial crisis facing the UNRWA and its negative impact on the services being offered to the refugees in Arab host countries, noting that the Kingdom will continue its support to the UN agency to enable it to continue its role.
The conference, which was held at the Headquarters of the Arab League, discussed the condition of the Palestinian refugees, the financial crisis facing the UNRWA as well as recommendations of the previous conference.
The five-day conference was attended by representatives from Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt and Palestine, in addition to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
