AMMAN (Petra) - Russian Ambassador to Jordan Alexander Kalugin has praised Jordan's comprehensive reform process.
The ambassador said, in a statement to Jordan News Agency, Petra on the occasion of his country's national day, that the Russian leadership trusts efforts exerted by His Majesty King Abdullah II to bring about reforms that began 2 years go to achieve security and stability, while building a democratic Jordan.
Jordan, he added, has its own policies to deal with the internal and external challenges facing it due to the situation in neighboring countries, noting that Jordanians stand firmly behind their Hashemite leadership to address these challenges.
The ambassador pointed out that the Kingdom bore huge burdens as a result of past waves of immigrants settling in the country, placing enormous pressures on the Kingdom's economy, noting that Russia allocated $3.5 million as urgent aid to Jordan and also provided humanitarian aid for the Syrian refugees in the Zaatari camp.
Kalugin highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and Russia, adding that Russia is determined to support efforts of His Majesty to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
