Awqaf minister warns against Israeli actions at the Al Aqsa Mosque
AMMAN (Petra)-Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Al Qudah warned of actions by Israel at the Al Aqsa Mosque.
In a press release on Tuesday, Al Qudah warned against the outbreak of a religious war with consequences that threaten regional and international stability if Israel continues its policy of carelessness towards Moslems' feelings and mockery of the value of Islamic holy sites.
The minister noted that the Israeli occupation is also neglecting the signed agreements with its neighbors and international organizations regarding respect of Jordan's historical role in caring for holy sites and preserving the status quo of Jerusalem's heritage, which has been registered as a world heritage site by Jordan since 1981.
Al Qudah urged international and humanitarian organizations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League to pressure the Israeli occupation to end these reckless actions.
He noted that Israeli police officers, in an unprecedented move, stormed the Dome of the Rock, harassed workers on the site and detained one of the Al Aqsa Mosque guards when he asked the Israeli police to stop hard line Jews from practicing their rituals on the Al Aqsa courts, which is a stark violation of the international legitimacy and laws and an unprecedented violation of this holy site .
