Saudi campaign provides food and medical aid to Syrian refugees in Jordan worth $100 million
MAFRAQ (Petra)--The Saudi national campaign for the Support of Syrian refugees in Jordan distributed $100 million in food and medical aid to the refugees during the past 10 months.
Director of the campaign in Jordan, Saad Al Sweid, said Saudi Arabia works relentlessly to alleviate the suffering of Syrians who cross into Jordan to seek safety.
He added that Saudi aid convoys, consisting of 238 trucks loaded with 30 tones of food, blankets, clothes and other supplies, recently arrived in Jordan to help the refugees, noting that the 'Saudi national campaign ' set up 40 caravans in the Zaatari refugee camp as part of a program to offer housing to the displaced Syrians.
'The caravans come within an agreement signed by the 'national campaign' to set up 1,000 caravans in the Zaatari camp at a total cost of 9 million Saudi Riyals,' he said, noting that the camp will be provided with 40 caravans daily as part of the agreement.
The Zaatari camp currently hosts 176,000 Syrian refugees, out of some half million refugees being cared for in the Kingdom.
