AMMONNEWS - The Amman Court of Appeals on Wednesday upheld the decision taken by the Amman Criminal Court in sentencing a former director of Jordan's General Intelligence Department (GID) to over 13 years in prison on corruption-related charges.
The Amman Criminal Court last November found former GID chief Mohammad Dahabi guilty of charges of embezzlement, money laundering, and exploitation of public office, and sentenced him to thirteen years and three months hard labor in prison, in addition to one year that would be reduced from his detention date.
The charges date back to to Dahabi's term as GID director from 2005 to 2008.
Dahabi's defense team had filed an appeal of the verdict issued against him in december, requesting that the Court of Appeals hear further testimonies from witnesses in the case brought against their client.
