AMMAN (Petra) Two baby girls, aged between eight months and one year, died on Tuesday of severe burns to their bodies and a woman suffered breathing problems after a fire engulfed an apartment west of Amman.
The civil defence department said fire-fighting and rescue crews rushed to the scene, a four-storey building in the suburb of Kamaliyeh, extinguished the blaze and treated the woman on the spot before transferring her to hospital.
It said initial investigations pointed to a leak from a gas heater that caused the fire.
