Leftists, Pan-Arab Candidates to Run on Unified National List
AMMONNEWS - Four pan-Arabist and leftist political parties announced that it will nominate candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections on a joint national list.
The parties include the Arab Progressive Baathist party, the Pan-Arabist Movement, the Arab Socialist Party, and Hashd.
The parties agreed to nominate Secretary General of Hashd, former MP Ablah Abu Elbeh, to head the list, Al Arab al Yawm daily reported.
The report added that the opposition parties agreed to nominate a representative of the Arab Socialist Baath party as second candidate on the list, followed by a member of the Arab Progressive Baath party, and a fourth candidate from the Pan Arabist movement.
The opposition parties announced last week that they will take part in the elections, rescinding its previous stance to boycott the elections slated to be held on January 23rd, 2013.
The parties agreed to deliberate on the candidates running on the joint list, to include 12-20 candidates, along with independent candidates representing political parties.
