AMMONNEWS - Jordan Television announced on Monday that it will give free airtime to candidates running for the upcoming parliamentary elections slated to be held on January 23rd, 2013 to introduce their elections platforms.
Head of the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation (JRTV) Ramadan Rawashdeh said that the JRTV board, headed by Minister of State for Media Affairs Samih Maaytah, decided to allow individual and national list candidates free airtime in part of the state television's support of the parliamentary elections.
Rawashdeh added that each individual candidate will be allowed one minute, to be recorded by JTV cadres, to present his or her political platform.
As for national lists, Rawashdeh said that a representative of each list will be hosted on two JTV programs that would be dedicated starting next week to hosting representatives of national lists in part of JRTV's support of the elections .
JTV will broadcast a daily program beginning on Sunday entitled 'Elections' for one hour from 7-8 PM. Program episodes have already began being recorded in various governorates.
Rawashdeh added that candidates wishing to take more airtime in addition to the free 1-minute will be treated on a commercial and advertisement basis, the prices of which were agreed upon by JRTV board, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported.
