Roads in the capital Amman and highways across Jordan witnessed a heavy traffic on Sunday, coinciding with the start of the working week and the resumption of work and university classes, with traffic flowing smoothly and no significant obstructions reported.
An External Patrols Department operations officer said highways were experiencing heavy traffic, particularly towards Amman and between governorates, with no significant obstructions reported.
Meanwhile, a Traffic Department representative said traffic activity had increased noticeably with the start of the week and university classes, confirming that traffic was flowing smoothly.
He also confirmed the continuation of the national vehicle inspection campaign, aimed at ensuring vehicles and their essential components are roadworthy during winter, reducing traffic accidents and enhancing road safety. He praised citizens for their cooperation with the campaign and traffic officers.
The representative urged drivers to carry out necessary vehicle maintenance, address any deficiencies and ensure all vehicle components are in proper working condition, while following the instructions of traffic officers in the field.
Representatives from both the Traffic Department and External Patrols Department also urged drivers to follow traffic rules, respect right-of-way priorities and speed limits, and avoid dangerous violations and distractions while driving to protect themselves and other road users.
Both representatives confirmed their full readiness to provide assistance around the clock, urging citizens to call the unified emergency number (911) when needed.
