Royal Court Chief inspects projects in Ajloun, stresses field follow-up
Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi inspected several development and service projects in Ajloun Governorate on Thursday, including healthcare, disability support, entrepreneurship, and tourism facilities.
The projects, implemented under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, aim to improve public services, expand employment and economic opportunities, and develop the governorate's tourism and economic potential.
The inspection tour was part of ongoing field monitoring of completed and ongoing Royal Initiative projects to assess implementation progress and their impact on local communities.
Issawi began his tour at the Potash Inclusive Day Services Center in Ajloun, established under the Royal Initiatives to provide care and rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities.
Accompanied by Acting Ajloun Governor Ali Haisa and Greater Ajloun Municipality Committee Chairman Mohammad Bashabsheh, Issawi reviewed the center's services and programs aimed at developing beneficiaries' skills, improving their capabilities, and promoting community inclusion and participation.
Opened on June 5, 2023, the two-story center covers 862 square meters and includes classrooms, physical and occupational therapy facilities, early intervention units, offices for psychological and social specialists, and meeting, activity, and computer rooms.
The center provides specialized rehabilitation and support services for persons with disabilities in the governorate, helping reduce the burden on families by making services available closer to their homes.
Issawi then visited the Ajloun Business Incubator, inaugurated by His Majesty King Abdullah II in 2019 under a Royal Initiative to support young entrepreneurs and help transform business ideas into sustainable economic projects.
Accompanied by Haisa, Bashabsheh, Royal Scientific Society Vice President Raafat Assi, iPARK Business Incubator Director Sireen Dweiri, and IRADA Centers Director General Sami Oleimi, he reviewed the incubator's facilities and its training, technical assistance, and advisory programs.
The incubator supports entrepreneurs in establishing and developing businesses, particularly in sectors where Ajloun has competitive advantages, including tourism and agriculture.
In 2024, the Royal Scientific Society assumed responsibility for managing and operating the incubator through its iPARK Business Incubator and IRADA program, with the aim of strengthening entrepreneurship, innovation, and young people's technical and administrative capabilities.
At the end of 2025, the incubator's premises, located in the Learning Resources Building of the Ajloun Education Directorate, were rehabilitated and equipped to accommodate the IRADA Ajloun offices.
The facility is intended to support startups and small businesses, expand self-employment opportunities, and encourage young people's participation in the local economy.
In the Hashemiyah area, Issawi inspected construction work on the Hashemiyah Primary Health Center, another Royal Initiative aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to primary medical services.
Accompanied by Haisa and Shafa Municipality Committee Chairwoman Basma Amoush, he reviewed construction progress, which has reached approximately 35 percent.
The center is being constructed using a prefabricated building system in accordance with Ministry of Health requirements. The project occupies a 1,700-square-meter site, with a building area of 760 square meters.
Once operational, the facility is expected to improve access to primary healthcare for residents of Hashemiyah and surrounding areas and reduce the need to travel for medical services.
As part of efforts to develop Ajloun's tourism sector, Issawi visited the Ajloun Development Area Visitor Center project, implemented by the Jordan Free and Development Zones Group.
He also toured the seasonal market at the Ajloun Cable Car station, where he viewed products made by local residents, including women entrepreneurs.
Issawi subsequently inspected Ajloun National Park, one of the projects included in the governorate's Tourism Master Plan, launched in 2023 during a Royal visit to Ajloun.
Accompanied by Jordan Free and Development Zones Group Chairman Sakher Ajlouni, Haisa, and Bashabsheh, he reviewed construction progress on the two-phase project.
Construction work has reached approximately 83 percent completion in the first phase and 34 percent in the second phase.
The park is one of four projects included in the first package of Ajloun's Tourism Master Plan, which seeks to develop tourism facilities and make greater use of the governorate's natural and environmental resources.
Once completed, the project is expected to diversify tourism and recreational activities, attract visitors, and create economic opportunities for local communities, particularly in tourism services and small businesses.
Issawi concluded his tour with a visit to the Government House building in the Ishtafina area, a historic landmark dating to 1949, during the reign of the late King Abdullah I bin Al-Hussein, the founder of Jordan.
Accompanied by Haisa, Bashabsheh, Ministry of Agriculture Assistant Secretary-General for Forestry and Rangelands Khaled Qudah, and Ajloun Tourism Director Firas Khatatbeh, he inspected the building and its facilities.
The visit followed repeated requests from local residents to rehabilitate the building and convert it into a tourism and heritage attraction while preserving its historical significance.
Located within the Ishtafina forests, the building is near several major attractions, including Ajloun Castle, the Ajloun Cable Car, Ajloun Forest Reserve, and Mar Elias.
Its location offers potential for tourism development, including possible use as a resort, within a broader network of attractions in the governorate.
The building currently belongs to the Ajloun Agriculture Directorate and serves as a forestry monitoring station.
In remarks to the press, Issawi said the inspection tour was part of ongoing field monitoring of Royal Initiative projects to assess their implementation and the services they provide to Ajloun residents.
He explained that the visits follow His Majesty's directives to monitor projects on the ground, review implementation progress, and ensure that work proceeds according to approved plans and schedules.
Issawi emphasized that monitoring covers both projects under construction and completed facilities to ensure they deliver the intended services and benefits.
He added that identifying implementation challenges and coordinating with relevant authorities to address them are essential to completing projects as planned.
Issawi stressed that the primary purpose of the Royal Initiatives, as consistently emphasized by His Majesty, is to serve citizens and improve their quality of life through projects that address priority needs, expand access to services, and create employment and income-generating opportunities.
He underscored the importance of ensuring that these projects produce tangible improvements in people's daily lives.
