Jordan monitoring deadly Nuweiba bus crash involving Jordanian passengers
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs confirmed on Wednesday that it is closely following up on the traffic accident that occurred in the city of Nuweiba, Egypt, earlier on Wednesday, which resulted in several fatalities and injuries.
The ministry’s official spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, stated that, according to information received by the Jordanian Embassy in Cairo, an Egyptian passenger bus carrying a number of Jordanian and Egyptian passengers was involved in a traffic accident this morning. Preliminary reports indicate that several Jordanians are among the dead and injured.
Al-Majali explained that the ministry, through its Operations and Consular Affairs Directorate and the Jordanian Embassy in Cairo, is coordinating with the Egyptian authorities regarding the incident. He added that a team from the Jordanian Embassy is on its way to Nuweiba to follow up on the condition of the injured and facilitate the transfer of the deceased to Jordan.
The ambassador expressed his deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims, praying that God grants them His mercy and provides their loved ones with patience and comfort during this difficult time. He also wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
