US Ambassador to Tel Aviv: Consensus in Israel to condemn West Bank violence
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said there is a universal condemnation in Israel of violence in the occupied West Bank, at a time when settler attacks on Palestinians are escalating, amid fears of attempts to impose a new reality on the ground.
Huckabee added that half a million Israelis living in the West Bank are most disgusted by small group of thugs often called “settlers” who often don’t even live there.
Maariv newspaper also quoted an Israeli military source as saying that the police did not arrest any settlers who participated in the events that took place in the town of Qusra, south of Nablus in the West Bank, on Saturday.
Israel Hayom reported on Sunday, citing sources in the Israeli military, that there are concerns that elements within the government are interested in an escalation in the West Bank for political considerations.
