Major violations detected on Disi Water Conveyor, water lines in Al-Husseiniya
The Ministry of Water and Irrigation / Water Authority, represented by its Internal Control Directorate, has uncovered major violations affecting the Disi Water Conveyor.
A total of 22 illegal connections were detected on the main water lines in the Ma’an–Al-Husseiniya area along the Desert Highway, in addition to 7 violations involving the use of water sprinklers for car-washing activities.
The operation was carried out as part of an ongoing campaign to remove illegal encroachments, in cooperation with the Governor of Ma’an, the Southern Badia Directorate, and relevant authorities.
The ministry said on Wednesday that the campaign revealed damage to air valves on the Disi pipeline and the illegal extraction of thousands of cubic meters of water through unauthorized tanker filling operations intended for water resale. Technical teams continue working to rectify the situation without interrupting water pumping.
In Al-Husseiniya, authorities also detected seven violations involving unauthorized water lines connected to sprinkler systems.
The ministry added that all illegal connections were disconnected and removed, while 10 pumps and water tanks used for the sprinkler systems were confiscated. Efforts are ongoing to restore the system and identify those responsible. The Public Prosecutor is continuing investigations to complete legal procedures and bring all those involved to justice.
