Al-Nashama begin training ahead of clash with Algeria
The national football team began its training on Thursday in the American city of Portland in preparation for facing Algeria in the second round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
The training session came after Al-Nashama’s match against Austria in the opening of their World Cup campaign.
The Jordanian national team is competing in Group 10, which also includes Argentina, Algeria, and Austria, in its first-ever participation in the FIFA World Cup finals.
The national team opened its historic debut in the 2026 World Cup with a 3–1 loss to Austria on Wednesday in Group 10.
Austria took the lead through Romano Schmid in the 20th minute, before Ali Alwan equalized for Jordan at the start of the second half in the 50th minute.
While Jordan was searching for a lead goal, Yazan Al-Arab scored an own goal in the 76th minute, giving Austria the advantage again.
In stoppage time, Marko Arnautović secured Austria’s win by scoring a third goal from a penalty in the 90+12 minute.
