Poet Alian Al-Adwa re-elected president of Jordan Writers Association
Poet Alian Al-Adwan won the presidency of the Jordan Writers Association in elections held on Friday evening at the conference hall of the Royal Cultural Center in Amman.
Al-Adwan received 160 votes, defeating writer Daifallah Al-Wreikat, who secured 73 votes.
The victory marks Al-Adwan's seventh consecutive term as president of the association.
Candidates aligned with Al-Adwan also won seats on the administrative board, including Sawsan Al-Muhtadi, Dr. Sarah Al-Suhail, Wael Abdul Rabbeh, Daghem Al-Qassous, Abdul Basit Al-Kayali, Abdulrahman Al-Mubaydeen, and Dr. Mohammad Al-Manaseer, while Dr. Mohammad Abu Hzeim, from Al-Wreikat's bloc, also secured a seat.
Winners of the association's committee elections included Dr. Hussein Al-Khazaai (Media Division), Dr. Abdul Ghani Al-Hujair (Research and Thought Division), Ali Al-Qaisi (Creative Writing Division), Amal Abdo Al-Zoubi (Heritage Division), and Ghassan Owais (Translation Division).
The association's general assembly meeting was held after achieving the required legal quorum and in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Culture. Members reviewed and approved the administrative and financial reports, after which the previous administrative board resigned and a three-member committee from the general assembly was appointed to oversee the elections.
