Army foils six drug smuggling attempt using electronic balloons
The Eastern Military Zone, in a special operation carried out at dawn on Wednesday along its border front, foiled six attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics loaded on electronically guided balloons that were launched simultaneously in an effort to distract border guard units and evade surveillance.
Border Guard units, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, successfully intercepted all attempts at various locations. The balloons were dealt with, brought down, and their cargo was seized inside Jordanian territory, with the confiscated materials handed over to the relevant authorities to take the necessary legal measures.
The Jordanian Armed Forces affirmed that they continue to employ their capabilities and resources to prevent all forms of smuggling and infiltration, and to confront anyone who attempts to threaten the security of the homeland and the safety of its citizens.
