Jordan condemns U.S. Ambassador’s remarks on Israeli control of Middle East
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Saturday condemned the remarks made by the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, who stated that it would be acceptable for Israel to control the entire Middle East, including the West Bank.
The Ministry’s spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Majali, rejected these provocative and baseless statements, describing them as a violation of diplomatic norms, an infringement on the sovereignty of regional countries, and a clear breach of international law and the United Nations Charter, noting that these remarks contradict the official position of U.S. President Donald Trump, who has publicly opposed the annexation of the occupied West Bank.
Majali emphasized that the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, is occupied Palestinian territory under international law.
He reaffirmed that ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state on all occupied Palestinian lands based on a two-state solution in accordance with international law is the only path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
He also stressed the importance of coordinated efforts to stabilize Gaza and implement the U.S. President’s plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803, rather than issuing provocative, irresponsible statements that hold no legal weight or effect.
