PSD destroys over 11 million pills, 400 kg of drugs
The Anti-Narcotics Department of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Wednesday destroyed large quantities of seized drugs linked to 148 different cases involving trafficking, possession and smuggling, following the issuance of final court rulings.
The destroyed materials included around 11 million Captagon pills, 60 kilograms of marijuana, 9,000 narcotic pills, 100 grams of cocaine, 368 kilograms of hashish, 13 kilograms of qat, 4 kilograms of Joker powder, and 11 kilograms of crystal meth.
The PSD affirmed that the Anti-Narcotics Department continues its round-the-clock operational efforts across all regions of the Kingdom and at border crossings to firmly counter attempts to smuggle or circulate drugs through Jordan, given the direct threat they pose to public security and safety.
These efforts are carried out through a high level of coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army and Jordan Customs, as part of a joint framework aimed at curbing the spread of drugs and their negative consequences, the PSD added.
The destruction process was supervised by a special committee headed by the Inspector General of the Public Security Directorate and included the Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department, the Director of the Forensic Laboratories and Criminal Evidence Department, and the State Security Court prosecutor.
In addition, the drugs were destroyed in specialized furnaces reaching temperatures of up to 1,000 degrees Celsius, ensuring they were completely melted and stripped of their narcotic properties.
