Hiyari: Army restructuring timed with regional transformations
Director of Military Media at the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) Brigadier General Mustafa Hiyari, stated on Saturday that the Royal directive to restructure the Jordanian Armed Forces comes at a time of rapid regional and international transformations.
In an interview on Al-Mamlaka TV, Hiyari added that technology is redefining the concept of military power and future warfare, noting that numbers are no longer as important as the quality of equipment, weapons, manpower, and technological capabilities.
His Majesty the King does not want to wait and be late in keeping up with these technologies, and he has a forward-looking vision, and wants a strategy and roadmap to ensure national security in a changing regional and international environment that mainly requires movement, not stillness, and action, not waiting. Therefore, His Majesty set a time period of 3 years to achieve harmony between launching and transformation within a reasonable period, Hiyari stated.
His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, directed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, in a letter, to devise a comprehensive strategy and roadmap to achieve a structural transformation in the armed forces over the course of the next three years.
