For her part, Nasser expressed her gratitude to the Government of Japan for extending this decoration. She said that Jordan and Japan have enjoyed a special relationship since establishing diplomatic relations 71 years ago and added that the close relationship between Jordan’s Hashemite family and Japan’s Imperial family has been an important facet of this relationship. She referenced the trip of His Majesty’s King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein to Japan last month as a reflection of the depth of this relationship. Nasser also recounted the generous support extended by the Government of Japan to Jordan’s art and cultural landscape, which she witnessed first hand in a number of endeavors she led. On Ikebana, Nasser remarked that she came to appreciate the artform’s emphasis on harmony and balance, qualities that are much needed in today’s fractured world.
