PSD issues weather warning, urges to avoid valleys, flash-flood zones
The Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Wednesday warned citizens about the low-pressure system currently impacting the Kingdom. Intermittent rainfall has already begun in the northern and central regions, as well as parts of the southwest, and is expected to gradually reach the eastern areas. Heavy rain, along with thunder and hail, is forecast for the evening and nighttime hours.
The PSD called on the public to take the necessary precautions, including:
-Avoiding valleys, flash-flood zones, and low-lying areas such as the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea, as heavy rain and possible thunderstorms may trigger sudden flooding.
-Keeping away from waterlogged spots and refraining from crossing flooded roads on foot or by vehicle to prevent the risk of being -swept away.
-Driving carefully in areas expected to see intense rainfall.
-Using all heating devices safely, avoiding refueling while they are on, ensuring proper home ventilation, and turning heaters off before sleeping.
-Being cautious of poor horizontal visibility caused by dust in desert regions and fog over high mountains and parts of the plains.
-Contacting the unified emergency number 911 for assistance when needed.
