Rubio met Wednesday with Safadi to discuss the trilateral agreement between the United States, Jordan, and Syria to maintain the ceasefire in Syria, according to a press release by the U.S Department of State.
Rubio stressed the need for dialogue to address the present crisis in southern Syria and underscored the importance of protecting civilians on all sides.
The two ministers also discussed the security situations in the region including Gaza and the West Bank.
For his part, Safadi thanked Rubio for the thorough discussion on advancing the historical partnership and efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and ending escalation in the West Bank as well as preserving the ceasefire in Suwayda in southern Syria, which the US played a key role in realizing.
During the meeting, Safadi also affirmed Jordan's appreciation for the United States' support, reaffirming the two countries' commitment to working together to ensure peace and stability in the region.
