PSD dismisses reports on child abduction cases in Jordan
The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) unequivocally denied the circulating reports of child abduction incidents within the Kingdom as 'false,' adding that no complaints have been filed in this regard.
In a statement Wednesday, he noted the video and posts aired over the past 24 hours, which were attributed to a child abduction, actually relate to a child molestation case.
On this particular case, he said the child's father filed a complaint at Russeifa Police Department a few days ago and investigations are still underway to arrest the suspect.
The spokesperson also urged the public to obtain information from official sources and refrain from publishing any unverified posts to avoid spreading rumors and panic in society.
On its policy, he stressed that the PSD is 'always proactive' in releasing all details of concern to the community, mainly warnings and statements on any criminal cases, methods, or phenomena that concern public opinion.
