Water Ministry: Season average rainfall stands at 44%
The average rainfall for the season stood at 44% as of Sunday morning, representing approximately 57% of last year's rainfall.
Water and Irrigation Ministry's Spokesperson Omar Salameh, told 'Ammon News Agency' that dam storage as of Sunday morning was just 31%, with a capacity of 90 million cubic meters, a decrease of approximately 50 million cubic meters compared to last year.
Salameh indicated that the ministry is working on a project to reduce water loss, and has succeeded in doing so by bringing it down to 46.3% after working to reduce it by 2% annually, with each 1% representing approximately 5 million cubic meters.
Jordanians are concerned about the decline in rainfall this year, which will result in reduced water supply to homes and water distribution networks.
