Goodbye to WhatsApp as we know it – this is the change to the app that will affect all users
As we all know, WhatsApp is the most well-known and used instant messaging company in the world. Since it came into our lives, it has completely changed the way we communicate, and little by little it has been implementing new features that make it an even more complete application.
WhatsApp has allowed us to contact anyone instantly, no matter where they are in the world, and best of all, it not only works on our mobile phones, but also has a computer version for those who spend more time in the office. Now that it has more than two billion users worldwide, they are looking to improve their interface to make it more accessible to everyone.
Meta, who is the brand that runs it, has incorporated three key changes to the new call interface: start a new call, generate a link to share it or enter a phone number manually. We tell you everything you need to know about this update!
What’s new? The goal of this new update is to make both voice and video calls more interactive and customizable, so it has added innovations that improve accessibility, allowing you to select participants before making a group call and creating shortcuts to make calls (both on mobile and on WhatsApp Web). On the more interactive side, effects and filters have been added to video calls (like those on Instagram), customizable backgrounds and they have improved the resolution of videos with bandwidth optimization.
Note: you will have to update the application That’s right, to use these new features, you must have the latest version of WhatsApp installed. On mobile devices, you can access your application store (Google Play Store or App Store), and from there select the most recent version that your device finds. You will have to wait until the installation is finished and then restart the application to check that the changes have been made.
In the case of WhatsApp Web or the desktop version, these changes will be applied automatically (although, we also inform you that it usually takes a little longer)
Are WhatsApp calls secure? Of course, and it is one of the best things about WhatsApp, that both calls and chats are encrypted from end to end because one of its main commitments is to maintain the security and privacy of its users, so they guarantee that only the users who are having the conversation can listen to or see the content they are discussing.
In the Web version, WhatsApp hides the IP address during calls to prevent them from being traced.
Likewise, no matter how secure the platform is, our recommendation is that you never share confidential information (such as bank details) through calls because you do not know who could be recording your conversation without consent (or if they are using the speakerphone).
Other WhatsApp features
If you haven’t touched the app for a long time and you limit yourself to just receiving and sending messages, you may not have realized that WhatsApp has changed several things in recent years. Although sometimes it seems to us that it is made so that our partners are unfaithful, they have generated a series of changes to improve the user experience. In addition to having private chats that you can only access with a password, you can now schedule events directly in those individual chats (although this is in beta phase), and it is directly linked to the possibility of sending photos and voice messages that can only be listened once (or “bomb messages” as Gen Z would say).
On the other hand, you can also create personalized stickers from selfies or even by pasting the photo from our gallery.
And did you know about the transcription of voice messages? Well, it is our favourite function. If you are in class, or in a meeting and you receive very long audio messages… Being a curious person is not the best combination. Previously, we had the option of sending messages to Carina (an AI that transcribed the messages) but now you won’t need to send anything to anyone, because through the settings of your application you can select that they be transcribed directly in the chat that sent it to you. And, although it still has many bugs, it is probably the best innovation they have made so far.
Whatsapp, which is already the most popular messaging app, aims to continue its reign and become much more fluid for its users with these changes. Don’t hesitate to update and tell us what you think of these changes! UnionRayo
