Squid Game actor dies just three months after being diagnosed with cancer
An actress in the hit Netflix programme Squid Game has died, just three months after being diagnosed with stomach cancer.
Lee Joo-Sil, 81, played Park Mal Soon, mother of Hwang Jun Ho (Wi Ha Joon) and stepmother of Hwang In Ho (Lee Byung Hun), in the series.
She died today at her family home in Uijeongbu, South Korea, according to national paper The Chosun Ilbo.
She had been diagnosed with breast cancer 30 years ago and was given one month to live. She battled the disease for 13 years before she was given the all-clear.
Lee was diagnosed with stomach cancer in November last year during a check-up.
Her funeral will be held at Shinchon Severance Hospital on February 5. Daily Mail
