1.7 million electronic parcels arrived in Jordan during 2023
The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) said that the number of e-commerce parcels arriving in Jordan via e-commerce platforms amounted to about 1.7 million parcels during 2023.
The TRC indicated that these parcels were delivered through private mail operators for the international category licensed by the commission, in addition to the public mail operator, the Jordan Post Company.
It explained that compared to the year 2022, there is an increase of (70%) in the number of parcels for the year 2023.
The number of parcels in the first half of 2023 amounted to 851,335 and the second half 864,896 parcels, it added.
The figures show an increase in the number of international parcels during the second half compared to the first half, as the Commission attributed this to seasons, holidays and holidays, which are a greater peak time in the second half, and discounts and sales are greatly benefited from.
Regarding the nature of the international e-commerce platforms that are most frequently used when ordering to Jordan, the Commission said that they are (SHEIN, I HERB, MODANISA, ALI EXPRESS, AMZON, TEMU).
As for the movement of parcels issued from Jordan, the commission stated that the number of e-commerce parcels issued from Jordan via social media and e-commerce platforms for the year 2023, which were monitored, was approximately 100,000 parcels, delivered through private mail operators for the international category licensed by the Authority, in addition to the public mail operator, the Jordan Post Company, as the demand for local products, especially clothing, increased.
The number of international parcels issued in the first category in 2023 amounted to 50,679, and in the second half, 54,925 parcels, the commission indicated.
