12,800 Syrians have returned from Jordan to their country since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on December 8, 2024, until December 22,a source in the Ministry of Interior revealed.
The source said, according to what was reported by Al-Mamlaka, that among those returning to their country were 1,309 Syrian refugees, noting that the majority of the returnees were not classified as refugees.
In the coming days, the source expected more Syrian to return to their country, noting that Jordan supports the voluntary return of Syrians to their country, and that the Jaber crossing is currently the only outlet for Syrians to cross to their country.
On December 6, 2024, Jordan decided to close the Jaber border crossing opposite the Syrian Nassib crossing, due to the security conditions surrounding southern Syria.
The Ministry of Interior on Monday revealed the categories allowed to enter and leave through the Jaber border crossing linking Jordan and Syria.
