Electric cars stored in Aqaba included in tax reduction decision
The Jordanian Customs Department announced the Cabinet decision to include electric cars stored in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) before November 23, 2024, for the purposes of clearing them and entering them into the Jordanian market to benefit from the Cabinet's decision to reduce the special tax rate on electric cars by 50% for one time only until December 31,2024.
Acting Director General of the Jordan Customs Department, Brigadier General Ahmad Akalik, said that according to the latest amendment to the decision, the opportunity is available for cars that had entered the ASEZA before that date to be among the cars to which the reduction decision applies, stressing the necessity of adhering to the date set by the government for this purpose by those wishing to benefit from the decision.
It is noteworthy that the Customs Department had issued a statement regarding the continuation of work during the upcoming official holidays, Wednesday and Friday, at the Zarqa Free Zone and Amman/Vehicles Department Customs Centers, and that work will be on all days of the week until the last transaction is completed from each day until Tuesday December 31, 2024, for the last date for implementing the decision.
