Areas recorded sub-zero temperatures on Monday morning
The monitoring stations of the ArabiaWeather and the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) recorded, at dawn and on Monday morning, December 16, 2024, remarkably low temperatures, reaching their lowest at Queen Alia International Airport in the capital, Amman, where it recorded 0.5 degrees Celsius below zero, while Mafraq Governorate recorded similar temperatures.
ArabiaWeather experts attributed the Kingdom's recording of such low temperatures to the Kingdom being affected by the extension of the Siberian high, which pushed dry Siberian winds towards the Kingdom, causing temperatures to drop significantly and a very cold atmosphere to prevail.
Below are the minimum temperatures recorded at weather stations across the Kingdom this morning:
Queen Alia International Airport -0.5°C Mafraq -0.5°C Amman Civil Airport 1.5°C Zarqa 2°C Jerash 2.1°C Tafilah 3.2°C Petra 3.7°C Irbid 4.6°C Aqaba 10.8 °C
