IACC: Housing Association Chairman detained over financial violations exceeding JD600,000
Public Prosecutor of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (IACC), Mohammad Bani Taha, has ordered detention of the chairman of the management committee of 'Amman Oasis Housing Association' for 15 days at Marka Correctional and Rehabilitation Center.
The detention follows allegations of 'significant' financial violations, including unauthorized disbursement of large sums as financial rewards and allocation of land plots to the chairman and committee members.
According to an IACC statement, the management committee made several unauthorized decisions without securing the necessary approval from the association's general assembly, which resulted in illegal disbursements exceeding JD600,000.
The Public Prosecution has charged the defendants with embezzlement, abuse of position, and misdemeanor of mismanaging public funds and neglecting official duties.
Additionally, a travel ban has been imposed on the committee members, and their assets have been frozen.
