Jordan condemns Israeli bombing of UNRWA school in Gaza
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli bombing of a school affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Nuseirat camp, which resulted in the deaths of dozens, including six UNRWA employees, and the injury of a number of Palestinians, in a flagrant violation of the rules of international law.
The Ministry's official spokesperson, Sufyan Al-Qudah, stressed that Israel's continued violation of international law and international humanitarian law is nothing but a result of the absence of an effective and firm international position that ends this ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip, and the killing, destruction and unprecedented humanitarian disaster it produces.
Al-Qudah also affirmed the Kingdom’s rejection and condemnation of this act, which is inconsistent with human and moral values and with the rules of international law, especially the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 1949, stressing the need to ensure the protection of civilians, vital facilities that provide basic services to our Palestinian brothers, humanitarian facilities and shelters, which international law stipulates must be protected.
