Gold exploration in Kingdom's south reaches advanced stages, ministry says
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said that the exploration of gold ore in the Abu Khasheeba area in the south of the Kingdom has reached advanced stages.
Some targets were identified in the area, and excavation and trenching work was carried out to assess the possibility of gold in the targeted sites, the ministry added.
The cracks and associated minerals in these areas were studied to determine the extent of the spread of the deposits and to evaluate the possibility of carrying out advanced exploratory drilling, the ministry indicated.
Regarding copper exploration, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said that exploration work is still ongoing within the time schedule of the companies that signed the memoranda of understanding in the areas of (Dana, Wadi Malaka and Abu Khasheeba).
It also explained, according to Al-Mamlaka, that the companies are implementing their exploration programs in these areas under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy, out of the Ministry’s keenness to follow up on the companies’ commitment to their exploration programs.
