Energy Ministry expects to start supplying Iraqi oil within days
Iman Awad, the Director of Oil and Natural Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, said on Wednesday that approval had been received from the Iraqi side to extend the work of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) to supply Iraqi oil to Jordan for a period of 3 months with the same contractual conditions and the same price.
The Jordanian side has taken all the required measures, and coordination is currently underway with the Iraqi side to complete the procedures for starting the process of loading crude oil from Kirkuk to the Jordanian oil refinery in Zarqa, Awad indicated.
It is expected that the supply will begin within the next few days, Awad added, noting that the Iraqi side has been contacted to renew the MoU to supply Iraqi oil to Jordan for a period of one year, from the date of completion of loading the remaining quantities of the current MoU, which are expected to be loaded during the extension period referred to above.
